What is video post-production for ecommerce?
Video post-production is everything done to source footage after filming: editing, color correction, sound design and audio post-production, motion graphics, compositing, captions and subtitles. For ecommerce and apparel, it turns raw product footage into platform-ready listing video, cut to the specs each store and social feed requires.
- Editing Cut, pace and structure
- Color correction Accurate, on-brand color
- Sound design Music, effects and clean audio
- Motion graphics Titles, text and animation
- Compositing VFX and garment retouching
- Captions & subtitles Readable with the sound off
Why product video is now non-negotiable for ecommerce
The case for product video is settled. Conversion rate, add-to-cart rate and brand trust all move with it.
-
144%
Shoppers who watch a product video are up to 144% more likely to add that item to the cart, and ecommerce video pages convert up to 80% better than pages without.
Source: Invesp -
63%
Asked how they'd most like to learn about a product, 63% of consumers choose a short video. Just 12% pick a text article, a gap of more than five to one.
Source: Wyzowl, 2026 -
83%
82% of marketers say video marketing delivers a good ROI, and 83% say it has directly increased sales.
Source: Wyzowl, 2026 -
89%
84% of consumers want more video from brands, and 89% say video quality affects how much they trust that brand.
Source: Wyzowl, 2026
That last number is the one apparel brands should read twice. In clothing, a weak video doesn't just cost you the sale. It costs you the return too.
The apparel return-rate problem video is uniquely positioned to solve
Apparel carries the highest return rate in ecommerce. The National Retail Federation estimated that 19.3% of online sales would come back in 2025 across all categories (NRF). McKinsey’s returns survey put apparel ecommerce at 25% against 20% overall, with women’s dresses and footwear among the worst performers (McKinsey).
The cause is unusually concentrated. McKinsey attributes around 70% of fashion returns to poor fit or style rather than faults. The garment arrives and it simply isn’t what the buyer pictured. Bracketing widens the gap. NRF found that shoppers aged 18 to 30, the Gen Z bracket, made an average of 7.7 online returns in twelve months, more than any other generation, and much of that is ordering two sizes on purpose.
That is an expectations gap, and a flat photo is badly equipped to close it. A still shows you a garment. Fabric video shows drape, movement, how the cloth behaves when someone walks, how a sleeve sits at the wrist, and true color under changing light. It answers the question a size chart can’t: what will this actually look like on a body?
Well-produced product video is one of the few levers that lifts conversion and reduces returns at the same time.

Video retouching & garment VFX
This is the work most editors turn down. It’s also where a photo studio has an unfair advantage, because frame-level retouching is what we’ve done since 2013. Our video retouching services apply that discipline to every frame of a clip instead of one still.
- Digital garment alteration: extend, shorten or modify clothing directly in the footage
- Sleeve and body reshaping to refine the fit after the shoot
- Clothing replacement that swaps garments in footage you already have
- Logo and brand-element replacement, matched to perspective, lighting and camera motion
- Object removal from video and cleanup, AI-assisted, for distractions, rigs and stray gear
- Reflection removal from glass, screens and glossy surfaces
- Shadow cleanup where the lighting fought you on set
- Fabric wrinkle removal for the creases a steamer missed
- Shot-to-shot color consistency so every clip in a drop matches
- Invisible mannequin enhancement for a clean, floating-garment look in motion
- Screen replacement for phones, monitors and displays in frame
- Rotoscoping service with frame-accurate cutouts
- Masking that isolates exactly what needs to change
- Motion tracking that locks elements to the moving frame
- Video stabilization to settle handheld and run-and-gun footage
- Beauty and skin retouching that holds up in motion
- Chroma key (green screen) keying with clean edges
- Background removal to lift the subject off the plate
- Background replacement to drop them into a new scene
- Archive cleanup: batch logo and element swaps across an old footage library
Typical jobs: a rebrand that needs the old logo swapped across two years of clips, a wardrobe change decided after the shoot wrapped, or a jacket that filmed with a crease down one sleeve.
Two of these run straight back to our photo work. Invisible mannequin video is the ghost mannequin problem solved 30 times a second. Shot-to-shot consistency is the same discipline as color correction and color variant work on a product set, and the image masking and background removal behind our roto and keying are techniques we’ve run at scale for years.
UGC & performance ad editing
If you’re spending on paid social, the edit is judged on conversion, not polish. UGC video editing and ad creative are the two things brands hand us first.
- UGC editing that shapes creator footage into ads that don’t feel like ads
- Meta ad creative for Facebook and Instagram placements
- TikTok ad creative built to survive the scroll
- YouTube ad creative cut for in-stream and Shorts
- Three to five hook variation cuts from one core edit, ready to A/B test
- Thumbnail optimization so the click happens before the play
- End-card variations that close on the right offer
- Separate organic and paid versions of the same footage, each cut for its job
- Testimonial cuts that turn real customers into proof
- VSL video editing, the video sales letter format, for long-form conversion
- CTA and caption overlays that tell viewers what to do next
- Fast iteration off your performance data, so the next cut beats the last
Two of these carry real weight against an ad budget. Hook variations let you test the first three seconds without paying for a fresh edit each time. And one set of footage cut for both organic and paid stops your creative refresh from depending on your shoot schedule.
3D apparel animation
The one service that needs no shoot. We build it from your flat design file, so 3D clothing animation can give you a listing asset before the sample exists.
- 3D garment mockup animation built straight from your design file
- 360° rotation and spin video showing the front in full
- 360° rotation that carries through the back and sleeves
- Walking animation that puts your garment on a moving model
- Camera movement through the 3D scene, including AI-assisted moves
- Product exploded-view animation that pulls layers, construction and materials apart
- Material close-up animation that reveals fabric texture, weave and stitching
- Multi-angle renders that cover every view a listing needs
- 3D spinning-logo animation you can reuse as a web asset
- Realistic fabric simulation and texture in CLO3D, Blender or equivalent
If you already use spin views on your listings, this sits alongside our 360 degree image editing so the still and animated versions match.
Multi-platform versioning & delivery
One shoot, every placement. Versioning is the cheapest stage of video post-production and the one most often skipped, which is how brands shoot well and then publish a single ratio. Multi-platform video delivery fixes that.
Every ratio, cut inside the platform’s safe zones
- 1:1 square for feed and carousel posts
- 9:16 vertical for Reels, TikTok and Stories
- 4:5 for the feed, where it takes up the most screen
- 16:9 horizontal for YouTube, your site and product pages
- Safe-zone framing so captions and CTAs never sit under the interface
Built to marketplace and placement specs
- Meta Ads video, to spec
- TikTok Shop video, to spec
- Shopify product video, to spec
- Shopify hero-banner videos for the homepage
- Etsy and Walmart video, to each marketplace’s specs
- Amazon listing video, cut to marketplace requirements
Delivered the way you’ll actually use it
- Caption-free, clean versions on request
- Email GIF exports for your campaigns
- WebM exports for fast-loading web use
- A high-quality master archive of every finished piece
- Packaged, editable project files on request (Premiere, After Effects and more)
Photo + video from one studio
No pure video editing company can match this part, and it’s worth being blunt about why. We already retouch product stills at scale, so your photo and video come out of the same room, to the same standard.
- Product photo retouching at scale, on stills that match your video
- Clipping path work for clean, precise cutouts
- Ghost mannequin editing for a worn-but-empty look
- Photo color correction and brand color matching across the set
- Model and skin retouching on your stills
- 360° product image editing for spin views on the listing
- One matched color, styling and standard across the whole listing, photo and video together
Explore the photo side: clipping path service, ghost mannequin service, product photo retouching and model photo retouching.
Same brief, same shoot, one relationship.

How a Video Batch Moves From Raw Footage to Approved Delivery
Upload through Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or Frame.io, along with references, brand guidelines or a script.
Send footage and direction
Upload your files by Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or Frame.io, with references, brand guidelines or a script. More direction means a closer first draft. Everything is organized and named to a clear convention the moment it lands.
We quote
Per video, per batch or per month. Retouching and VFX are quoted per clip after we’ve seen a sample, because complexity varies too much to price blind.
We edit
First draft in 24 to 72 hours on standard video editing work. You get daily updates while the project is active, and tracked version history so nothing is lost between rounds.
Review and receive
Revisions are included. Every file runs a QA check before it reaches you, then all formats and project files come back by cloud delivery.
Pricing: how apparel video post-production is priced
Most studios hide this. We'd rather you could budget before the first call, so here is how video editing services pricing works in this category.
Per video
Pay per videoBest for one-offs, a single campaign piece, or a first project while you're evaluating us.
Request a quotePer batch
Lowest cost per videoTen, twenty or thirty outputs from one shoot. This gives the lowest cost-per-video, because setup, color and asset prep happen once and carry across the batch. Most apparel brands land here.
Request a quoteMonthly retainer
Dedicated editorFixed volume each month, priority in the queue, and a dedicated editor who learns your brand. Best at scale, and the only model where consistency stops being something you have to ask for.
Request a quoteGarment VFX and video retouching sit outside all three. Those are quoted per clip once we've reviewed a sample, since a wrinkle fix and a full garment replacement are not the same job.
Short-form apparel edits start at

What affects the price
- Clip length
- Number of deliverables
- How many aspect-ratio versions you need
- Edit complexity
- VFX depth
- Turnaround speed
- Whether you want editable project files

Get my quoteWhy brands choose a studio over a freelancer
This isn't really a question about people. It's a question about structure. A brand making four videos a year is well served by a good freelancer. A brand making forty is buying video post-production capacity and range, and those are structural things one person cannot supply.
| What you get | Solo freelancer | Generic subscription | Our studio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volume from one shoot | Limited by one person's hours | Capped by queue position | 20+ deliverables, batched |
| Garment VFX and retouching | Usually declined | Out of scope | Core capability |
| Photo and video match | Not offered | Not offered | Same team edits both |
| Turnaround | Varies with their workload | Fixed queue | 24 to 72 hours on standard work |
| Consistency across a series | Depends on availability | Different editor each time | Same editor, written specs |
| NDA and file security | Case by case | Platform terms only | NDA available before transfer |
A video editing studio, not one person.
Twenty deliverables from one shoot is a scheduling problem before it's a creative one. We run it as a batch with a dedicated editor, a production manager and a single point of contact, so volume never becomes your bottleneck.
We do the work others decline.
Garment VFX, rotoscoping and motion retouching need a specialist, not a generalist with a plugin. Most freelancers say no, and most subscription services don't list them at all.
Your photos and video finally match.
You stop chasing two vendors for one listing.
The tools behind the work
The stack behind your edits:
Runway and Topaz Video AI are used behind the scenes only, never to generate your final brand footage.
The stack is the means, not the pitch. What matters in video post-production is what it lets us finish.
Who we work with
We work with apparel brands and ecommerce teams that already film, or are about to start. Some send one campaign a quarter. Others send a hundred clips a month. What changes is the cadence and the constraint, not the standard of the work.
Streetwear, activewear and sportswear labels
Drop culture runs on cadence, and performance product sells on movement. You launch, post, and launch again, while the edit queue is the first thing to slip.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Weekly drops, weekly deadlines
- Movement and stretch on camera
- Heavy social posting volume
- Consistent look across a season
Luxury, occasionwear and modest fashion houses
Fewer pieces, higher stakes. Whether it's beading on a gown or the fall of a layered abaya, the garment carries the film, and one careless frame misrepresents it.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Hero campaign film, few deliverables
- Beading and embellishment detail
- Full-length framing for long silhouettes
- Modest coverage kept consistent
- Embargoed until launch date
Footwear, jewelry and accessories brands
Small objects shot large. A shoe needs profile, sole and flex. A ring lives in macro, where a millimeter of focus drift shows. Both need a scale reference.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Multiple angles per SKU
- On-foot and on-body cuts
- Macro detail held sharp
- Stone and metal color accuracy
- High value, low volume
DTC and private-label brands
Paid media eats creative faster than any shoot can feed it. The constraint is not footage, it is versions, and commissioning a fresh edit per test adds up quickly.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Always-on paid media spend
- Creative fatigue every few weeks
- Marketing, social and content managers
- Private-label catalogs at scale
Marketplace and omnichannel sellers
Selling the same SKU across four channels means four sets of rules. Most sellers discover this after the shoot, when one master file fails three different upload checks.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Amazon and Walmart sellers
- Etsy and TikTok Shop sellers
- Shopify merchants and online retailers
- Wholesalers and manufacturers listing direct
Boutiques, resale and independent labels
Often one person doing everything, with stock that is frequently one of one. There is no reshoot and no second unit, so the edit has to work first time.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- One-person marketing team, no editor
- Single-unit SKUs, no reshoots
- High listing turnover weekly
- Condition and wear shown honestly
- Small batches, no minimum order
Photographers, videographers and agencies
You shoot, we finish, and your client never hears our name. Creative directors and brand managers come to us for the post-production they'd rather not staff in-house, or can't staff fast enough.
WHAT WE PLAN FOR
- Product and fashion photographers
- Videographers and studio managers
- Ecommerce and creative agencies
- White-label delivery under your branding
- Multiple client brand guidelines
If you sell apparel online and you're filming content, this is built for you.
Get 2 free test editsVideo Editing Questions Buyers Ask Before Sending Their First Clip
How fast is video post-production turnaround?
Standard turnaround for a first draft is 24 to 72 hours, depending on clip length, deliverable count and edit complexity. Short-form pieces such as Reels and TikTok cuts can be delivered in 24 hours. Rush turnaround is available on agreed work. Heavy VFX and 3D animation take longer, and we give you a firm date with the quote rather than a guess.
Do you offer a test before I commit?
Yes. Send us your footage and we’ll edit two videos free, with no card and no commitment. You judge the work on your own product rather than on a showreel of someone else’s. Most test edits come back within one working day. If you like the result, you scale up per video, per batch or per month.
Can you retouch or alter clothing inside a video?
Yes. We handle digital garment alteration, sleeve and body reshaping, clothing replacement, fabric wrinkle removal, logo replacement and invisible mannequin work, all frame by frame across the clip. This is specialist compositing rather than a filter. It’s quoted per clip after we review a sample, because a wrinkle fix and a full garment swap are very different jobs.
Do you handle high volume?
Yes. Batch video editing is standard, with capacity for 20 or more deliverables from a single shoot and weekly batch delivery to keep a posting schedule fed. For predictable monthly volume, a retainer reserves editing capacity and assigns a dedicated editor to your account. Clipping Photo Experts operates 24/7 with 150+ in-house specialists.
What formats will I get back?
MP4 with H.264 or HEVC as standard, plus MOV, WebM and animated GIF for email on request. Resolution runs from 1080p through 2K and 4K UHD, capped by your source resolution. You also get a high-quality master archive, caption-free versions, and packaged editable project files if you want them.
Can you edit footage I shot on a phone?
Yes. A large share of apparel content is now shot on phones, and modern phone footage grades well. We apply warp stabilization to handheld shots, correct exposure and white balance, and clean up audio the built-in mic picked up. The main limits are low light and heavy digital zoom, which soften detail that no edit can fully recover.
How much does apparel video editing cost?
Video editing cost depends on clip length, how many deliverables you need, how many aspect-ratio versions, edit complexity, VFX depth, turnaround speed and whether you want project files. We price three ways: per video, per batch, or on a monthly retainer. Batch pricing gives the lowest cost per video. Garment VFX is quoted per clip after we see a sample.
Does product video actually reduce returns for apparel?
It closes the gap that causes most of them. McKinsey attributes around 70% of fashion returns to poor fit or style rather than faults, which means the buyer’s expectation was already wrong before the parcel shipped. Video shows drape, movement and true color in a way a still can’t. We can’t promise a specific reduction, and no honest studio can.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. An NDA can be arranged before any file transfer, which matters for unreleased collections, campaign work and agency projects you’re white-labeling. Unreleased client footage is never used in public portfolios. Backups are retained for three months, and original files are automatically removed after six months.
Do you also do product photography and photo editing?
We’re a photo-editing studio first, working in ecommerce image editing since 2013. Clipping path, ghost mannequin, background removal, photo color correction and textile color matching, model retouching and jewelry retouching all run in-house. That’s exactly why photo and video match when both come from us, across the same listing.
Send us footage. We'll edit two videos free.
Two free test edits. No card, no commitment. Judge our video post-production on your own product, on your own footage, before you spend anything. If it's right, scale up per video, per batch or per month.
